Heisman OUTRAGE

Being in the West Coast, I am outraged that Alabama's Mark Ingram won the Heisman over Stanford's Toby Gerhart.  And that's saying something because I usually criticize the Heisman for using any excuse to give the award to a white player.

Gerhart leads the nation in rushing and had 26 touchdowns.  He led Stanford to a 8-4 record by playing his best in big games.  He ran for 223 yards and 3 touchdowns vs Oregon and then 178 yards and 3 tds the next week at USC.  In the month of November he played 4 games, ran for 742 yards (185.5ypg) and 13 tds (3.25tdpg)  Gerhart's lowest output of the year was 82 yards.  And despite playing 1 fewer game than Ingram, Gerhart outran Imgram by 194 yards.

Imgram on the other hand has had 5 games under 100 yards this year and 3 games under 60 yards.  In his final 5 games, he ran for only 534 yards (106.2ypg) and 7 tds (1.4tdpg).

He won because Alabama is undefeated and because he had a good game against Florida in the SEC championship, and because many Heisman voters were asleep when Gerhart ran through the heart of a very good Pac 10 schedule.
