The Stampede: November 25th Bowling Green at Buffalo

The Bowling Green game
Wednesday November 23rd:

Where to stay:

It is thanksgiving weekend, so the campus will be empty.  So instead of staying near campus, you definitely have to stay downtown.  You can get by Wednesday without a rental car, but you will need one for the rest of the weekend.

Stay at the Hampton Inn and Suites to ensure proximity to the Chippewa District for Wednesday, one of the biggest party nights of the year.

Get your grub on:

Head to the anchor bar for wings, its a must do on any trip to Buffalo.

Get your drink on:

Just go outside, Buffalo's party district is at your door.  Drinks are cheap and covers are minimal so surf from bar to bar and try to last till 4am.

After drinking, Buffaloians flock to Jim's Steakout for hoagies.

Thursday November 24th:

Get your head in the game:

Buffalo is a football town, and despite subzero temperatures, Buffaloians will be playing football.  Gear up and cruise the suburbs for a football game.

What to do when everythign is closed:

By noon, everything in Buffalo will be closed.  If your in Buffalo for a football game and not with your family, your probably getting a little depressed.  Resist the urge to call loved ones, grab your passport and head to Niagara Falls, Canada.  Our Canadian neighbors celebrate thanksgiving in October so they will be open for business.  Clifton Hill has food, Casinos, Clubs, Strip Clubs, and a 19 year old drinking age, something for everyone.

Friday November 25th

Black Friday:
Prepare for winter Buffalo is cold in November.  It will probably snow.  Layer up at the Galleria Mall's Black Friday sales.

Tailgate:

The campus will be dead, so your going to have to make your own fun.  Buffalo has free game day parking and tailgating lots but it will be very cold.  Get a thermos and fill it with Tim Horton's Coffee or Hot Chocolate to stay warm.

Game:

The seats are concrete and exposed to the elements. the concessions will not satisfy or keep you warm.  Your gonna need alcohol, body warmth and crazy fanaticism, this game could punch either teams' ticket to the MAC Championship game.

Post Game:

Go back to the hotel to warm up, then head down near the arena to Benchwarmers to drown your sorrows or celebrate the win.  Party on Chippewa again on Friday, and pour some liquor on the snowy ground, cause college football is over yet again.
