2011 Season Schedule

The grass at Heinz Field is really bad.

Game 1
Saturday, September 3: at Pittsburgh

The Bulls open the season at Heinz field, where former Miami Tulsa University coach will debut Pitt's new spread offense.  As we know first hand, the transition from Pro Style to spread can be bumpy, and our defense should be more adept at stopping the spread than Pitt's.

Importance factor

#2 Most Important game this year.

Buffalo is surrounded by Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Pittsburgh and Penn State.  If Buffalo is going to be taken seriously in expansion talks, and make a statement to recruits in our area, this is the most winnable statement game.

It is also immensely important to start the season 1-0.  Buffalo's goal is to be bowl eligible means we need 6, (but probably 7 or 8 wins if last season is any indication) to be invited to a bowl game.  Winning 8 instead of 6 is all the more important now that the International Bowl is no longer there to pick us up whenever we are eligible.

3 Big Questions
  1. On the same vein, unlike many MAC teams, Buffalo has the reputation of being able to travel well.  In 2008 the east end zone was full of Buffalo fans who knew the 2008 team would be something special...will the fans travel after one of the most disappointing seasons in UB's recent history?

  2. Who? It's early but who will be our starting QB? Who will step up in the secondary? Who will be the main running back?
  3. Will we score in the 1st and 4th quarters? Starting slow and finishing weak plagued UB in 2010.
